Rhino 8 crashes when changing viewport background color*

What’s stated in the title is the problem,
*with a particularity:
It happens only when I don’t toggle the sidebar.
I just updated to the latest R8 and it’s still happening. See video below. Task Manager doesn’t say the program is not responding, but it clearly is stuck. What is this, how can I fix it? What ‘file’ do you need from me? Thank you for your attention.
