using Rhino 8, selecting the active layer has recently become a problem; unable to select and deselect existing layers. what should I be checking?

Hi Art -
I’m afraid that screenshot doesn’t tell me anything. Could you describe the issue?
Did anything change on your system around the time that this started happening?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo
command and copy-paste its output here.

thanks for the quick reply! system info file included below

there is NO response when selecting any of the “valve” layers

Hi Art -
I’m going to need more detailed information.
What does “selecting” mean in that sentence?
What response are you expecting?

“selecting”; ie: double clicking on the layer I’d like to enable or disable
I’m expecting the selected layer to become visible or go away and the “light bulb” to turn on or off
file in question included below

I think i know what you want
Just create an empty layer called default and then make it selected
Then you can use the light bulb to turn on and off on the layers you want
When you have the layer selected it will show everything and everything you create will be assigned to that selected layer
Hi Art -
When I open your file, the valve layers are all turned off:
When I, as you state, select it by double-clicking on one of those, it becomes the default layer and gets turned on:
Is that not the behavior you are seeing on your side?

thanks for the replys!! closed both the file and Rhino 8 and now everything is functioning
as expected; very strange!
thanks again
