Does anyone knows why rhino 8 crashes when i am trying to copy a block ?
Hi -
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo
command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim
It looks like you have narrowed it down to VisualArq?
-wim
Yes something is happening with visualArq. I tested in safe mode and also in normal mode with visualArq disabled.

Fixed with the update to SR11 RC4
Sorry to reopen this issue, but I’m not super technical with system info. I’m having the same issue: Rhino crashes when attempting to copy blocks. I see the solution is update to SR11 RC4, but I don’t know what that means. System Info below:

Hi whb -
You are running SR 16, so the fix that went into SR 11 is also in the version that you are running. That means that you are likely running into something different.
Is this file-specific or does that also happen when you start a new file from a factory-default template, draw a rectangle, turn that into a block, and “copy” (you’ll also need to be more specific about what, exactly, that means) this block?
-wim
Gotcha, that makes sense.
In terms of the issue being file specific, based on the scenario you laid out, I’m guessing it might be. I created a new file, made a box, made that box into a block, then copied it with the “Copy” command with no issue. In the file were the issue occurs, blocks that I try to copy via the “Copy” command crash Rhino when I specify the base point (point to copy from) for the copy. As soon as I click to specify that first point, Rhino crashes.
block copy test.3dm (135.9 KB)
I exported one of the blocks that causes the crash to it’s own Rhino file and the behavior persists. As far as I can tell, all blocks cause the crash, but I just chose one to export.
Thanks for that file.
I couldn’t get that to crash Rhino here though.
When Rhino crashes, does the crash reporter dialog come up? If it does, please always send those in as they provide valuable information for the developers. I’m not seeing any such reports from the eMail address that you use here though.
Does disabling that plug-in in the Rhino Plug-in Manager and then restarting Rhino make a difference?
-wim
Hmm, interesting.
Unfortunately, the crash reporter dialog does not show up; Rhino just spins for a few minutes, then suddenly closes.
I disabled the Lumion plug-in and restarted, but Rhino still crashes when the block is copied.
Hi -
Could you provide a manual dump file from when Rhino is in this just spinning stage? Instructions for creating and sending those can be found here: Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]
-wim
Roger that, just uploaded the ZIP file through the link you sent. That is one chonker of a file!
