The software is taking a long time to process the split command and then it just tells me: “Split failed, objects may not intersect or intersections may not split object.”
I’m not sure what I’m doing incorrectly, I would genuinely appreciate some support.
Only way to know is if you post the file in question. Most likely there are one or more objects in there that are making it difficult for Rhino to find the intersection in order to split the objects.
Hi Bea - your objects are composed of faces piled up on top of one another - I am not sure if you intend the wavy thing to be one object but as is, the panels are already closed, zero-volume polysurfaces where it seems you probably want single surfaces. Here I’ve diseected one of them - you can see all the bits, including that line, which isnot a line but a degenarate, zero-area surface…
I guess what you are after is this:
?
My guess is these were boxes and they have some how been squished to zero-height.

How do I begin to fix that? I made the wavy thing (roof) by extruding what I thought was a closed curve. I joined the curves in autoCAD before importing to Rhino. I do want the roof to be one single thing, I was hoping the extrusion would be good enough to make a solid.
I see what I did wrong now. I extruded it correctly. But then I was trying to offset so I can have a roof overhang, and that’s where I went wrong. Somehow I thought the solid dot on the gumball meant offset…
