Rhino 7 crashes when saving

Hi Rhino team,

Having issues with Rhino 7 after just upgrading from Rhino 6. I’ve been having file crashes when saving a file. I thought it might just be because of file size (over 1GB) but other users in the office are having the same issue with files around 150mb. Any ideas to what the problem could be? Anyone else having this issue?

Any help is appreciated, as we will have to revert back to Rhino 6 until this is resolved. We need the stability to be able to trust working in Rhino 7. Thanks in advance!

See specs below, other users have different builds (RAM, GPU etc) but have the same version of Rhino and Vray. They don’t have a 3D mouse and don’t have any grasshopper plugins.

Just updated to latest version of Rhino 7, hopefully that solves it. Any other suggestions based on my system info? Anyone else have this issue?

Also, our files are hosted on a local server and backed up to the cloud automatically using a third party. Since its not just me at the office having this issue, could it be a server storage issue?

I have the same problem!
again (as first version of 6) to many bugs :frowning:

Hello - if this problem recurs, please block the third party plug-ins (Vray, Elefront, Enscape) Options > PLug-ins page and then close and restart Rhino, then try the same save again.

happened here too… I send the file…

It seems like Vray might be the problem here. We are still using Vray 3.6 that we had for rhino 5 and 6 and that is installed on all the machines that have had problems so far. Anyone else having issues with old Vray versions? In addition to the saving issue, Rhino 7 immediately crashes when adding vray lights. Does this mean an inevitable Vray upgrade in order for Rhino 7 to be operationally stable?

 VRay is 5 now. I suppose 3.6 is out of support?

Hi -

If ChaosGroup offers evaluation versions of the latest plug-in, I would definitely try that one in your environment.
