Apologies for this basic question but how can I upgrade my Rhino license from 5 to 7 (edu version)?

Couldn’t locate the solution link…

Check the “buy” link on https://www.rhino3d.com to find a local reseller where you can buy an upgrade.

can we buy from directly McNeel website online, instead of resellers?

The Seattle office also handles the Asian market - don’t you get a “Buy online” option when you go to the “buy” page? (That page displays differently depending on where you are in the world, so I can’t tell what you are seeing…)
