Rhino 5.5.5 update issues

I have a license for Rhino 5 (mac version) and have used it for several years with great success. I finally upgraded to 5.5.5 after frequent messages and have real problems. The Perspective view often disappears when loading the program. I tried drawing a rectangle using point references, it is only visible on the top view and only when I “refresh” by clicking menu Redo View Change. I cannot zoom with window but when I try it then redo view again the top view window gets wonky. The program has become unusable and I do not know how to fix this.

What macOS are you running?
Rhino V5 for Mac is not supported on newer Mac computers:

Version 5 had been running great … but 5.5.5 is not. Here is my mac info:

Macbook pro 13 inch (early 2011)
OSX Yosemite 10.10.5
16 gB memory
2.3 gHz Intel Core i5
Intel HD graphics 3000

Basically, that old Intel HD 3000 is older than we can support reliably.
Your trusty old Mac is 10+ years old>
It has lasted twice as long as we expect a computer to be useful.
It’s time to get a new system is meets the System Requirements and upgrade your Rhino to V7.
Keep your old mac for the tasks it’s still good for.
Cheers

I cannot afford a new Mac and version 5 was working fine … this is not a solution for me. Why cannot I revert back to version 5?

What old build were you running prior to 5.5.5?

Rhino 5.0.1 download dated 7/11/15 … really worked great and still have the .dmg file.

Then run it, drag it into Applications, and when asked, replace the existing one.
You may have to reset your PLIST as part of the process.

Will my license carry over to the new install if I have to re-enter it?

It will still be there. The license is not part of the DMG.

I will try it … thanks for the help.

Here are the instructions for resetting the PLIST:

i avoided 5.5.5 either, it brought too many hick ups along, so i stayed with 5.5.3

I reinstalled version 5.0.1 but I still have the same problems … ready to give up.

sorry… try ExportPreferences followed by ResetPreferences, and import the preferences bit by bit till its messed up maybe it helps you finding the problem like that.
