Rhino 2D Function not working correctly

Hi,
I have the following issue - I use the Make2D function quite often in Rhino and there are few solids on which the function just doesn’t work. Does anyone know the reason. I have shared the file as well as a screenshot of what I am seeing.

Any advice will be much appreciated!
Untitled.3dm (665.2 KB)

I opened your file, used make2d and as far as I know, it works perfect.
I made a 2D from the top, from the front, and after wirecut again from the front.
I got three perfect drawings.Naamloos

left upper, compleet front
right upper, front after wire cut
right bottom, compleet top
left bottom, the origional part after wirecut

Hello - it seems correct here as well -

@t.donov94 can you post the output from the Rhino SystemInfo command?

-Pascal

Thank you for the quick response! I don’t know what I am doing differently. Are you guys using rhino 5 or 6?

Reading at some older topics that I found (Make2D not working properly - Rhino 6 Windows) I see there might be some issue with the position of the element in reference to the global origin. Once I moved the model closer to the origin I managed to get a better result, but again not complete (attached photo). I hope this might help you figuring out the problem.

Hello - can you please post the full system report (copy/paste) from SystemInfo?
thanks,

-Pascal

Hello - you might try getting the latest SR (6.10) of Rhino - Help> Check for updates. Is that any better?

Well with the updated version I get similar results. The 2d projections from the one in the center look perfect, the rest not so much. I will test Make2D with some other shapes that I need to create the projections for.

OK, I’ll revert to 10 and see if I can reproduce the problem - I’ve been testing on the latest in-house builds so far. It may be something that simply got fixed in 6.11 or 6.12, neither of which is released (well, 6.11 as a release candidate - actually - you might try that- set Update Frequency to ‘Release Candidate’ in Options > Updates and statistics.)

6.10 also seems fine here with this file… @t.donov94 - are you testing the exact file that you posted or in some larger file with other objects present?

-Pascal

In 6.11 only the one that is centered (eyeballed it) make a 2D projection fine. The others that are off centered don’t even want to project. Yes, I work with the file that I posted. Can the PC configuration have an effect on the program (using Dell XPS 9550).

Just in case I am attaching again the file.Untitled.3dm (1.9 MB)

That also seems to work, however I can now reproduce a different bug with this file, which is that Make2d simply stops working after a couple of tries…

The developer is out of the office for a couple of days but I’ll ask him to have a look as well.

@GregArden - any idea why the user gets flakey (incomplete) results from Make2d and here it is clean, using the same build?

-Pascal

T Donovv94, I have allmost the same specs except my nvidia driver and rhino version. They are both newer than yours.
