Hi,
I have the following issue - I use the Make2D function quite often in Rhino and there are few solids on which the function just doesn’t work. Does anyone know the reason. I have shared the file as well as a screenshot of what I am seeing.
Any advice will be much appreciated! Untitled.3dm (665.2 KB)
I opened your file, used make2d and as far as I know, it works perfect.
I made a 2D from the top, from the front, and after wirecut again from the front.
I got three perfect drawings.
left upper, compleet front
right upper, front after wire cut
right bottom, compleet top
left bottom, the origional part after wirecut
Reading at some older topics that I found (Make2D not working properly - Rhino 6 Windows) I see there might be some issue with the position of the element in reference to the global origin. Once I moved the model closer to the origin I managed to get a better result, but again not complete (attached photo). I hope this might help you figuring out the problem.
Well with the updated version I get similar results. The 2d projections from the one in the center look perfect, the rest not so much. I will test Make2D with some other shapes that I need to create the projections for.
OK, I’ll revert to 10 and see if I can reproduce the problem - I’ve been testing on the latest in-house builds so far. It may be something that simply got fixed in 6.11 or 6.12, neither of which is released (well, 6.11 as a release candidate - actually - you might try that- set Update Frequency to ‘Release Candidate’ in Options > Updates and statistics.)
6.10 also seems fine here with this file… @t.donov94 - are you testing the exact file that you posted or in some larger file with other objects present?
In 6.11 only the one that is centered (eyeballed it) make a 2D projection fine. The others that are off centered don’t even want to project. Yes, I work with the file that I posted. Can the PC configuration have an effect on the program (using Dell XPS 9550).
That also seems to work, however I can now reproduce a different bug with this file, which is that Make2d simply stops working after a couple of tries…
The developer is out of the office for a couple of days but I’ll ask him to have a look as well.
@GregArden - any idea why the user gets flakey (incomplete) results from Make2d and here it is clean, using the same build?
