RH8 WIP Fullscreen

Hi,

May I repeat my request for a proper fullscreen function for RH8, as in RH7? I work exclusively in 8, but then have to jump back into 7 for recording…which doesn’t work as smooth/fast for my work, but I have no choice as I need a full 4K screen at the end. Thanks!

what do you mean? the rhino native fullscreen is not working anymore in v8? something which i as a mac user was hoping to get and now its not even working on pc? omg…

Hi Mark -

RH-69852 Fullscreen: Update command to work with containers ← this is currently on the “UI Freeze” list, so that should get into Rhino 8 before it gets released.

In the meanwhile, have you tried setting up a fullscreen configuration and then saving that as a Window Layout?

Thanks Wim for your prompt reply. I haven’t tried…how exactly?

Afraid so….

Hi Mark -

You close all containers(*), run the WindowLayout command, and save the current UI layout as a custom layout. You can then switch between layouts.

(*) You can move but can’t close the command line and the menu bar and status bar can’t be moved, but running the Fullscreen command should hide all of these and get you a full screen UI.

Here’s a minimum UI configuration that you can import and restore:
Fullscreen.rhw (19.9 KB)

Think I’ll stick with RH7 workaround and hope for RH8 release …

By the way, running the fullscreen command does not appear to hide the status/menu bar.

And I have no idea what to do with the .rhw…

Thanks anyway!

Hi Mark -

I suppose hope is always good to have…

You’ll need to run -Fullscreen to make sure those options are set:

Run the WindowLayout command, and, in the dialog, press the gear icon and pick Import window layout:

Last question Wim: is the default UI for RH8 dark mode? Normally a lover of dark mode, but I believe ill-adapted to Rhino, or a lot of work on icon design is needed in my opinion.

A simple way of returning to “old school”?? Thanks again.

Hi Mark -

Yes, you can change this in the Rhino options:

It is during the WIP phase, yes, to get more user feedback.

If you have a minute, we’d like some more details on this.
Thanks,

Thanks Wim, feedback!!
