Hello,
I’m trying to understand why the Zollinger roof structure located on top of a Parisian building failed during the 1999 storm.
To investigate this, I modeled the structure in Grasshopper and applied the approximate wind load corresponding to that weather event (180 km/h).
However, according to the Kiwi3D analysis, the Von Mises stress ratio remains within acceptable limits.
Therefore, I cannot identify the weak point of the structure that led to its collapse.
If the failure was due to buckling or to a weakness in the joints, how could this be modeled in Kiwi3D?
V Mises
