Rendering Light on Glass tubes

Hi all,

I had a question about rendering glass, and wanted to see if anyone might know how to achieve this result I’m trying for.

In the above photos, you can see how when using a mono point source on these strung-together glass tubes, it creates a bold line of light that scatters across the surface of the tubes.

^ This is an attempt I made in Vray using a rectangle light and generic glass material from Cosmos, but as you can see the “linear glare” is very light and not as intense as in real life.

Does anyone have any material, environment, or light settings you might recommend for achieving this kind of effect?
