Real-time updatable vector drawing is still not possible?

Hi All,

From what I can see right now, there is no native possibility to create live drawing printable in vector PDF.

  1. All vector-generating display modes (Technical and Arctic) are hard-coded to have same line weight for all objects. And it’s not going to be changed in close future. Conformation
Having different line types/line weights is a must for me to show the product and occlusion on the drawing.
  2. ClippingDrawings has some ongoing issues here (as a dependency) and here which doesn’t allow to have full power. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. But to my vision it’s still just an upgrade to Make2D. I personnaly would like to have more power with vector-oriented Display modes and Clipping Planes, generating real-time sections. With all the line types and weights applied.
  3. The only option is Make2D, but I can’t name it as a “live” option.

That’s why my question to you guys, what is your workflow? How do you create vector PDF drawings? What am I missing? Is it still impossible to move a component in 3D model space and have the drawing layout updated along with vector output?

I know, McNeel Team works hard on the brilliant product, but it looks like people mostly use it not for production with drawings but as a modelling software only.
Correct me, if I’m wrong.

Hi Screamer -

It doesn’t sound like you are missing anything.
Direct vector output from 3D was added very late in the Rhino 8 development cycle and is something that is actively being worked on. I’m sure Rhino 9 will get us another step closer to being a productive environment for production drawings.
