Projected osnap override

Hello there.

I am finding the Projected Osnaps command very useful for alignment.
I have an alias to toggle it on and off. But, I’m wondering if there’s a way to manually override the Projected Osnaps part, but still be able to snap to things normally, during a command?

Currently, I have to end the command, toggle, then move, then toggle back. An alt or Fkey could be handy.

Best,
Jeremy

Make an Alias with _ProjectOSnap _Toggle you could use for instance P. this then also works in value boxes during command.

but in anyway way adding a shortcut to _ProjectOSnap _Toggle works just the same without ending the command.

also, why do you have to end the command? you can’t deactivate the project snaps while using move?

Hi encephalon,

I am unable to succeed on your recommendations.
I have the Toggle alias as ‘PO’, and if I type and execute PO during the move command, the move command terminates.
Is it different for shortcut keys?

Cheers,

You can enable or disable project during a command if you use the UI:
osnap

I’d suggest to use a shortcut with ctrl or control + shift.

ctrl + shift + P can be hard to reach, maybe use ctrl + shift + Q

It works inside commands.

Hey Martin, thanks for your help.

I tried Ctrl + Q as a shortcut, but still was unable to toggle during another command. The solution by David works quite neatly

Best,

Thanks for this. Works perfectly

Hello- ProjectOsnaps Toggle should work fine inside a command - what is the exact macro you are using?

Hi Pascal,

I’ve been using move the most, but also gumball operations etc.
There have been a few commands which aren’t allowing toggle during the command. Cant remember exactly which.
I’ll try to note it down and reply again

I meant, what is the exact macro you are uaing to toggle, in your shortcut?

Hi Pascal,

This is what I’ve got as a shortcut for the macro

Maybe it’s user error haha

Hi Pascal,
As I suspected, it was user error. I didn’t realise that having the exclamation in front of the macro executes a new command. Removing this and just having _ProjectOsnap _Toggle works during other commands. Something I’ll remember for the future
