Print Function Bug with Layouts

When using the Print command and RhinoPDF from model space, sometimes the layouts fail to load into the print preview, and when print is activated, the pages come out blank. I’ve noticed that if the pages don’t appear in preview, they will never print. I’m using print multiple pages together, not separated sheets.

In order to get them to appear in print correctly, I’ll need to cycle through each layout by clicking through them to flash the visual on screen before activating print again - after this process, the previews appear correctly, prints as PDF with no issue. If you only click through a few of the layouts and not all of them, only those that get flashed on screen appear in preview and get printed.

Previously I brushed it off as a minor inconvenience, but with larger layout counts it starts to get annoying - probably a bug? Thanks!

Hi Brnkh,

here’s my attempt to repeat. Am i missing something?

  1. Open attached file
  2. print from model space without previewing any of the sheets.

R8-layouttest.3dm (96.3 KB)

Hmm, I’ve tested on this file, can’t replicate the issue. Might it be a model/file size issue? Because I do notice that usually when I’m having this problem, it’s when the file gets relatively large. In the past it was with a file with the 3D model and 2D drawings together, but nowadays I still do get that issue when i separate both 2D and 3D.

Hi Brian -

Please upload the file to us so that we can take a closer look → https://www.rhino3d.com/upload
