Hi. I am using Rhino 8, the latest update. I am preparing technical drawings and would like to see the actual line width to avoid surprises when printing. As I understand it, the “print Display” command helps with: aligning the screen/print look.
I uploaded the file, but I am still unsure whether it will add anything.
“Print Display” appears to work with the “layout” feature. Is this correct?
Meaning that the “real” line thickness is only visible when using layout or in the print dialogue.
As a side note, I find the lines in mm not as useful as “points”. Is it possible to change the units of line width to points instead? (Alternatively, I can convert them manually.)
I apologise, It was my bad. Not sure how I did that. I do have them by layers at the source file.
I am getting the grip of it. Still a bit misleading how things look so different between “layout” vs Viewport. I am adding notes. When viewing the viewport, I can barely read them, but in the layout section they are fine.
The issue here is that when in model space, Rhino doesn’t know how thick a curve will be when you are going to output it. In layout space, the size of the layout is a real size that can be used to relate the width of a curve to. This is why, in model space, the PrintDisplay has a Scale option. You can change it as much as you like or need to be able so see “something”.
When you print from model space, you are defining the real size and, thus, the curves can be drawn in real units.
In Rhino 8 and later, you can choose between units such as mm and px to set curve widths.
