PlaneSrf XZ direction

How do I change the baseplane (internally to the object) to be in the X/Z direction?

If I go into Plane persistent dialog I see World XY, but no other options.
If I delete that then the dialog box cannot be dismissed and Rhino/GG must be terminated.

Is there a manual somewhere that describes all these input types and documents each of the methods?

I would like to use this surface to trim a number of surfaces including the pipes. What trim would I use?

Use XZ Plane component(Vector -->Plane–>XZ Plane) for the “P”(Plane)input of the Plane Surface component.
