Hi everybody!
I’m searching around for recommendations for good reliable workhorse laptops I could use for my work in Rhino. For some context, I’m a furniture and interior designer and my projects range from a single item like a kitchen table to a whole system of kitchen cabinets. My workflow is usually 3D modeling all the geometry and any relevant site conditions (walls, floors, windows, etc) and then using Rhino’s Layout to develop high-fidelity shop drawings with sections, hatches, dimensions, callouts, etc. I do a few renders for conceptual reviews but I only use Rhino’s default render view with stock textures and no shadows, nothing anywhere near photo-real. The geometry is never so complex that file sizes swell too much and I try to leverage blocks as much as I can. I also use the VisualARQ plugin for vector outputs.
I’m currently using the Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen5 with Windows 11 and it is doing an ok job. Lately, I’ve been having issues with Rhino freezing while opening and some other strange freezing issues while the pc is waking from hibernation. I’m getting close to taking it down to our woodshop and running it through the planer.
What kind of machines does the Rhino community use? I feel like my workload shouldn’t be that intensive on the CPU/GPU or RAM.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
