For modelling and rendering I need windows and picture frames (and don’t want to model each myself…) Is there some format that I should look for and also some very popular place to get that kind of stuff?

GrabCad.com has a pretty good selection of free Rhino models. Not sure about windows and picture frames (these are pretty easy to create and may be complex enough to post on GrabCad). As for rendering materials, most, if not all vendors have a proprietary materials format and have a pretty good selection on their website. What renderer are you using?

Maxwell, but I just want models anyway… And of course, it is ‘easy’, but modelling a window that looks like a proper window also needs some research. All in all it’s boring and time-consuming.
I ended up using Sketchup’s 3D Warehouse. Some manufacturers - Mil-Gard, Optimum - modelled there windows. Or search for manufacturer and model. Even when just using it as 3D blueprint for own models/surfaces, simply awesome resource for that kind of stuff.
