My partner and I are almost done with our parametric roof structure and only need one last tweak for it to be perfect, however we have no idea whatsoever how to actually translate our idea into a grasshopper code.
We would like to provide our timber grid shell structure with slats for shading (shown in the inspiration pics), preferably in connection with the insolation of the actual place. We know for sure that Galapagos provides such optimization processes because I have already once done something similar for another module. I am going to upload that old gh code for you guys to look into. I already tried somehow reusing that script for our current aim but we did not come far with that. We also found this nice yt tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3p4n3aD6fM and tried that as well, but because of our parametric structure it didnât really work and we don´t know how to adjust the tutorial to our roof.
We are on the verge of finally finishing this project and would be so grateful if somebody could help.
I wouldnât use galapagos here - you donât have very complex conditions to achieve and you donât have a lot of control in your script. Personally, I would work backwards here instead - draw the shadows where you want them to be and then translate it according to the solar vector you have to find the surfaces - of course the sun moves, and itâs quite a bit more than âone last tweakâ to run simulations
thank you for your answer, but we´re really not fit enough to just do that based on your description, thats why we got on here in the first place. nevertheless thanks for taking your time to help.
We honestly don´t know. We´ve been working on this project for this whole semester now and for some reason the rhino document is super big now. maybe because we baked the project into the rhino document? I tried only uploading the grasshopper code and that worked!
