A5 should be exactly half A4 so 297/2 is not 148 but 148.5

I don’t have ISO 216 at hand and can only point to its Wikipedia version: ISO 216 - Wikipedia.
The original A0 size was exactly 1 m2 with an aspect ratio of 1:\sqrt{2}.
Rounded to the nearest millimeter, that becomes 841 × 1189.
The other sizes would then become:
A1: 594.5 × 841
A2: 420.5 × 594.5
A3: 297.25 × 420.5
A4: 210.25 × 297.25
A5: 148.63 × 210.25
But, as you see on that Wikipedia page, an A4 sheet measures 210 × 297, and an A5 sheet 148 × 210.
