Hi,
I’ve had users report that they get a grasshopper conflict warning every time I update the plugin (which is frequent).
I’ve replicated this in Rhino8 SR7
If you install an older version of ggRhinoIFC from package manager, then restart rhino. The latest update will be installed and available (unless option to opt out of updates is set) and if you start grasshopper in the same session, a warning will be presented as per this image.
If you nominate load for the newest (not necessarily delete), then the next restart of Rhino will not present the conflict and load the newest.
This is frustrating for users. There are so many advantages to using package manager, so it would be appreciated if this could be fixed. I realize there are similar threads, noting that our plugin does have panels in rhino and it has been suggested this might be a cause of loading older versions at initial restart.
I do have this message about conflicting GG gha versions in Rhino 9 WIP (can’t check Rhino 8 right now) after every manual Package Manager update of the plugin.
BTW.
Generally about this dialog:
My region is set to Poland (language is US English) but I also have file date displayed as mm/dd/yyyy which is rather confusing for me.
Also, both files are not very clearly described, which one is older and newer. The older one is on the right side - this, at least for me, is also a bit confusing. It might not be a big problem, but if the user gets this pop-up frequently, sooner or later he will delete the wrong file.
Thanks for sharing. I just tested in Rhino WIP here, and couldn’t replicate the behavior, but it’s never been evident for all users. Previously it seemed to be related to having one of our rhino panels being shown. Hopefully Callum or a colleague can help, given I am frequently updating the plugin it’s not ideal.
