I have several ‘solid’ (e.g. manifold) mesh objects. I want to make ‘skinned’ versions, e.g. hollow. I print these w/ my 3D printer for various haptics experiments.
Now- there is a very good chance I am mis-remembering previous incarnations of Rhino Mac, but I thought I was able to easily do this with Offset Mesh +solid option in the past.
I thought this flipped the orientation of the ‘inner’ layer so that the resulting STL / object would treat the inside as the inside.
Looking at the results of doing that process now shows that the orientation isn’t flipped.
I need to poke a hole in the resulting object to facilitate resin drainage (mmmm drainage) and, I noticed that when I boolean-out a hole I get strange mesh behavior with this newly-solid object too (there is a polygonal ‘seal’ on the hole.
Any thoughts here?
