New file on startup

When I start Rhino by default it opens a new file. I try opening a recent file but always get the option to save the empty new file before I can open the file I would like to. How can I disable it? I read a lot of the previous comments but could not find an aswer to my problem.

Unfortunately I had to learn to live with it. Do you have V-Ray installed by any chance?

no Vray

Are you starting Rhino and then clicking on a recent file on the splash screen? If so, I’ve seen that problem many times, but I can’t repeat it consistenly. If that’s the case, you could just not click on that screen, and instead use File->Open like a caveman.

Kinda weird but works  thx!
