.NET 6 for Rhino 8?

Hi,

We are currently investigating .NET 6.

Will Rhino 8 support this or will it stay on 4.8?

We see lot’s of opportunity’s with .NET 6 regarding speed.

Today’s RhinoWIP - 8.0.21292 - contains a BIG change on Mac that doesn’t really fit well into a line-item bullet-point… Rhino 8 for Mac (still very much a Work-In-Progress) now uses Microsoft .NET 6. (All previous versions of Rhino for Mac rely on Mono, an open source implementation of Microsoft’s .NET Framework.) @curtisw has moved mountains to make this change possible and it forms a solid foundation for our cross-platform development going forward. It will, but not sure when it will be added to the WIP and eventual Rhino 8 release.

.net Core Plugin?

Rhino 8 for Mac is currently using .NET 6. We are investigating the use of .NET 6 in Rhino 8 for Windows, but it is still currently using .NET 4.8. Windows is a trickier situation because we still need to support execution in a .NET 4.8 runtime to support certain Rhino.Inside implementations.
