Need Grasshopper to stay visible when Rhino in background

Often am using reference materials when working with Grasshopper. But GH window disappears because its a 2ndary window (pallete?). Would be helpful if GH could be integrated into Rhino window or its window type could be changed so it stays visible when Rhino is in background…And I am watching YouTube videos or reading what to do.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I logged this here:

RH-54691 Grasshopper: Window disappears when Rhino is not the key application

This one might be “tricky” based on how we implemented this, but we’ll take a look.

In the meantime, one workaround is to use macOS’s Spaces feature and multiple monitors (only really works with two displays. Then you can fullscreen the Grasshopper and Rhino windows and place them side-by-side on a fullscreened space. If your browser is in a separate space, the Grasshopper window won’t disappear. Not ideal if you don’t have two displays though.

hello,
same question with windows, any way to how to browse the web with rhino minimized and grasshopper on the side still on ? Thanks
have a nice day

Hi -

I’ve put that on the list for a developer to take a closer look at.

As a workaround for a single screen, you can use window’s split-screen feature and split the screen between an internet browser and Rhino and make it so Rhino barely takes up any space on the screen. Grasshopper can be easily accessed this way while keeping the browser at a near-full-screen size.
