Named selection UI inconsistency

Was going to start using a new (for me) feature in Rhino, since Named Positions was working so well, but of course like with so many tools in Rhino, the UX/UI isn’t consistent…

Where’s the append in Named Selections??

EDIT: One more inconsistency… I’m able to resize the columns in Named Selection, but not Named Positions… (Ok, apparently it resizes automatically, but still.)

Hi, I have logged this: https://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-80880

Someone just told me about Snapshots, and I don’t see Append or Update there either… :see_no_evil:

There’s also no clear button to remove objects from either of these panels! I looked at the documentation page for Named Selections and I couldn’t even find how to remove an object from an existing named selection.

I get that Snapshots might be “more advanced” or that (some) users have to be more careful with that, but I think these things needs to be consistent and have just 1-step executions (right now, it takes 4-clicks to update a Snapshot):

  • Creating a new selection/position/snapshot
  • Switching active selection/position/snapshot
  • Updating (save) active selection/position/snapshot
  • Adding to active selection/position
  • Removing from active selection/position
  • EASILY SHOW WHICH SELECTION/POSITION/SNAPSHOT IS CURRENTLY ACTIVE

I shouldn’t have to learn four different sets of interactions for four very similar panels (Cplanes being the fourth).

EDIT: Added one last point with emphasis, because holy crap there’s literally no way to tell!?

Oof… Snapshots in V8 are even worse… where did the Save button go? :upside_down_face:
