Mobile Workstation, 3D modeling and archviz, Advices

Hello,

I am going to buy the mobile workstation Lenovo thinkpad P17 2gen (Mobility is mandatory here) with the specs listed below and I would like to have your precious opinion on it regarding my daily uses which is 3D modeling architectural scenes and objects using mainly Rhino7 (3dsmax and blender from time time) and rendering thoses models with Vray 5. (Sometime the modeles and the scenes can be complex with a lot of proxys, textures, fogs effect etc). I do not render everyday but when I have to I need something that can handle the task to produce high-end archviz.I would also use a bite of Revit.

Thank you very much for your time.

Sure? If a 17" is portable enough for you… The video card is approximately equivalent to a mobile 3060, so keep that in mind if it’s really expensive…

Thank you JimCarruthers for your answer.

Yes 17’’ inch is not a problem.
I am lost in finding the goods specs, but I’ve learned that Geforce is not made for 3D modeling and rendering, and that I should go with Quadro or the new Aseries.
Other than this model with lenovo, I dont know what should I shoose for this budget equivalent.
would you have a suggestion ?

That’s the sales pitch for Quadro, but Rhino (and most mainstream 3D software) is made to run on the more popular hardware people actually use, the whole concept of “workstation” GPUs is kind of a marketing relic from last century, the primary circumstances where you actually “need” a Quadro today involve servers, not workstations.

There are a million laptops out there, and supply chain issues, so sorry not gonna venture a guess. Lenovo makes decent laptops, but then so do a lot of companies if you get the right model.

Very helpful tahnk you,

I would then look more for the best CPU I can afford on a laptop and in second a great GPU even Geforce.
