I tried to reproduce the problem with the model you gave, but I am unable to do it. I have had two meetings with users and we have identified two cases that can cause the slowness.
Case1: Textures on a server.
Are the textures on a server? Can you test how the performance is if you use textures that are on the local computer. Textures that are on the same computer as Rhino is running on.
Case2: No rendered previews.
Maybe this is another case we do not yet know about?
