Just starting this topic to see if anyone else is experiencing a lot of crashes while making material adjustments to their models. I have frequent crashes only when working with materials, creating new materials, editing materials and applying materials and then attempting to make slight edits.
This is quite a pain, especially during what’s usually the really fun part of designing!

When you get crashes, please send in the crash reports. I’m not seeing any from you related to you with the e-mail address you use on our forum.
Also, please run the Rhino command _SystemInfo and post the result in a reply.
I’ve also been having this issue. Generally rhino is pretty stable for me, except when using the materials panel. I’ve submitted a number of crash reports, which I think included the associated file. Cheers.

I notice that you mention Bella in a few of those crash reports. Do you also get frequent crashes when that plug-in is disabled and Rhino restarted?
Also, your last crash report was from November 3rd on Rhino 8.12. Please keep sending in crash reports if those are still occuring in SR13!

I’ve unticked Bella in the plugin manager and will see how I go. I had another crash tonight, after updating to 8.13, but this was before disabling Bella.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve probably sent 100 crash reports in the last 6 months, so interested to understand why you aren’t seeing them, I checked that the emails match - I have not included files in the crash reports, would that change if you get them or not?

This is good - I’m also using Bella, so at least it’s coming from the same source.
I will say, Bella is pretty awesome, built in experience is the best of all the rendering plugins I’ve used. Glad to see you already on it @jdhill

I believe Stuart’s issue is specific to intel mac, but you are running natively on an m3, so I would like to get a sample crash report to see what is going on, whether you want to copy the text and private message it to me when a crash occurs, or if someone from mcneel could forward me a crash report that shows any issue in bella
@Float I guess you are using a different email when sending in the crash reports. I see some with one that resembles your name.

Including the file should not influence crash reports from being found.
From your statement, it sounds like it’s somewhat easy for you to crash Rhino. Please PM (or upload and include a link to this topic) me a screenshot of the crash reporter when you crash Rhino next time. Also, if you have a simple step-by-step workflow that crashes Rhino, please let us know.
We don’t have very many Bella crashes at this point…

You’re welcome, @Float. As Jeremy says, my laptop is a 2019 i9 MBP, so fairly underpowered. Jeremy suggested I turn off the realtime previews and sliders to increase responsiveness and this worked for me.
