Rhino 8 crashing continually when adding textures

Hi there,
I read through a previous forum discussion where some one had the same issue where my mac crashes every time i add a custom material. It also happens when i try to edit an existing material texture i have on an object. I cant seem to figure out whats the issue. However unlike the other post, I dont think its my laptop as its a 2024 M2 macbook pro. Is this a bug or is there a setting i can change to fix this?

See this post. Changing to CPU rendering will get you going, we have an issue report in with Apple concerning their latest update (Metal driver change)

Rhino 8 Crashes when I try to use Materials

Please try restarting your device. If it persists then: restart Rhino without opening a document, then Rhino 8 > Settings > Rhino Render. Switch to the CPU tab and make sure CPU is checked as render device. Then restart Rhino and see if this helps with materials. Please send in crash reports when the Rhino crash reporter dialog appears after a crash - do fill in your email address, that helps us to understand better about crashes, and potentially reach out for more information.
