Okay, so here is my issue, I am making an algorithm that is intended for the design of timber trusses using just a few parameters like span and pitch. I have the design part mostly figured out but I would like to make it so that I can push a button and test the truss’s structural integrity. Maybe even just some equations would work, I don’t know. I have looked into a few different options like Karamba and Beaver. Unfortunately I had some trouble with the Beaver plugin and Rhino and am apprehensive about re-installing the plugin. And because 17 year-olds don’t just have money sitting around to buy a structural engineering software I am looking for something that is low cost or free. It would be great if it could handle multiple types of joints. For my interface I am using the Human UI plugin. I am also Using Metta Hopper. Maybe someday ScanandSolve will come out with a grasshopper plugin. Wouldn’t that be great! I was thinking that maybe just some 2d line drawings would work. It would Need to handle several different truss types and variations. Howe, Bridge, Princess, Hammerbeam, etc. Thank You.
