Hi,
This is the Lemarchand’s Box - a fictional lock puzzle - appearing in horror stories by Clive Barker and the thus inspired Hellraiser movie series.
When solved, the puzzle box opens a door to another plane of existence and a sadomasochistic trip awaits the solver.
First I’d drawn the two-dimensional face patterns from various references I found online.
Although this seems to be a beloved movie prop to collect, good quality references are pretty hard to come by.
Fun fact, only the top and bottom faces are exactly the same! All other faces are unique.
After the tedious drawing process, constructing the solid N.u.r.b.s. model was a breeze.
The texturing and rendering was done in Blender with Cycles. The vegetation was generated with the Botaniq add-on.
