For more than eleven years I have worked with pleasure on Rhino and rendering technologies, first integrating Cycles as Raytraced, then also seeing it drive the Rhino Render solution. It has been a pleasure seeing all the work created with these in the gallery here has been great.
Begin March I will be starting a new position at another company for a unique opportunity in exciting research and development.
As such my active involvement here on Discourse as a Rhino developer will end this month. With questions regarding cycles in raytraced and rhino-render you should contact @andy , @lars or @DavidEranen . I’ll probably lurk still as @jesterking .
Sorry to hear that you are leaving, but good luck in your future endeavours! Thanks for all the support over the years and big thanks for all your hard and dedicated work on integrating Cycles in Rhino
Thanks Nathan, for all your work and help you provided during all those years. You’ve always been very helpful to me, and everyone else here on the forum. Your active participation on this forum will be missed!
I wish you a great new adventure at your new work location,
Veel geluk!
Thanks, Nathan!
You’ve always been a huge help with all my questions (even the silliest ones). You’ve always been there to lend a hand! A big thank you, and I wish you much success in your exciting projects! We’ll miss you.
Thanks for your help and dedication to making Rhino a better program and for sharing your Blender knowledge and the 3dm import plugin.
All the best on your new endeavor.
Thank you all for the kind words. I don’t know yet what I should fill the gaping hole with that now will be left in my day. Time that I’d usually spend on this forum. I guess I’ll need to find some new form of fun.
You’ve done amazing work! Thank you so much for helping to move Rhino forward and all of your support on the forum. You will be missed. Hope your new opportunity is as successful as your time at McNeel.
Maybe you’d like an anecdote to let you know the impact you’ve made. When I started teaching Rhino and rendering 10 years ago, we had to teach them either VRay or Maxwell. Both have taken away free student versions, and so if we wanted to teach them these, they would have to pay.
But right at the time this was happening, Cycles came in to save the day, and has made it so that students can learn to render on a very good engine that will be free forever. And being able to do this on Rhino, not just being stuck with quaint old Rhino Render, is down to you my friend. So thank you for your impact.
Thanks for all the commiseration and advocacy in the Rhino on Linux world! Feel free to have your pal @jesterking reach out to stay in touch.
