Lean 3D Printed Joint Generator for Tubular Construction!

This comes up over and over, so I made one as lean and mean as I possibly could think of.

This is NOT using multipipe as multipipe tends to mess with tolerances IME.

To get tube lengths you just output the path lengths, subtract joint length (x2) from all values, and you have your cut list!

If you can make it better or figure out how to reliably fillet the interior edges get after it!

Here’s a screenshot of the potential for outputting a cut list automatically as described above:

Inputs are (input curves) & (joint length) respectively, multiply B value is set to (2)

A few updates and a new .gh file!

  • Made it faster by eliminating redundancies
  • Added auto-cutlist feature

I will continue to update the file as I develop the tool, hoping to add robust filleting and a print-friendly chamfering to relevant edges, facing some challenges on the fillets so far.

You didn’t internalize the curves

Sorry about that, here’s a version with internalized curves.

It is worth noting, in order for this to work each path MUST be seperate, as the end points of the paths are utilized for building geometry. The advantage to this is that it will also generate rounded “caps” for any non-closed curves.
