Hi,
I’m trialling the use of ggRhinoIFC for importing IFC models for daylight analysis with Solemma ClimateStudio (a Radiance front-end for Rhino/Grasshopper)…
Importantly, ClimateStudio assigns Radiance materials on a per-layer basis (Rhino layers), in its own dialogs, indepenent of Rhino’s materials system.
Previously I’ve got my models into Rhino by exporting them from Revit as DWGs with a layer schema that breaks down the models per element types (not spatial hierarchy) which has worked sufficiently well. If I received an IFC model, I would import to Revit and then export to DWG.
With ggRhinoIFC, layer generation with the HierarchyIFC setting results in Rhino layers which aren’t useful for my use-case. The ‘Assigned’ setting gets me closer but in the cases I’ve looked at still not granular enough (e.g. window frames and window glass appears in a layer BWallExternal.
So after all that, my question is this:
Is there a way with ggRhinoIFC to set a custom layer schema for import, that can give me layers on a more per-element-type and/or per-material basis? Is there an example of this available at all?
(Note - I’m not needing to retain IFC structure / attributes for re-export to other software - this is just an analysis task.)
Thanks in advance
Carl
