I’ve got a KMZ file and no access to any other source data, and need some way of importing the data to Rhino, preferably to nurbs. I know this is a google earth file type, and could be read in Sketchup, but even in that workaround, saving it again to SKP imports it as a mesh to Rhino - are there any other ways to perhaps convert it to a SHP file or import it otherwise? Thanks
Hi - The KML file format stores 3D information as polygons, so any import would result in a mesh anyway. You could probably run ToNURBS
on the imported mesh.

Can anyone explain, step by step, how to import a KMZ or a KML into Rhino?

Hi Valeria -
The Heron plug-in for Grasshopper has a Import Vector component that reads KML files.
