Hiya! I’m a student who was trained on v7 and i’ve just got v8 on my computer but i cannot for the life of me do essential basic functions.
at the moment im trying to make a very simple piece that i need to sweep rails for but I’m struggling to join my curves? If i click them they come up in parts as “curve segments” but if i move one edge they will warp as if they are a closed curve.
any rails i can sweep are segmented too and wont boolean union.
I have made more complicated pieces than this without issue on v7 so its SO frustrating that i now cant do basic functions - please help!!!

Hey @William11 I took a look at your file and it has 2 closed curves in it. Nothing is open. I wonder if you have “Sub-objects” turned on in your “Selection Filters”?
That would cause Rhino to let you select the individual segments of the polycurve instead of the whole thing. If so, then turn it off and see if Rhino behaves as normal.
As for your other question, “What is this box?” I need more context to help. Can you upload a file for that too? What command were you running to make it?
omg that was it, yes haha! I was wondering if it was something like that, but i was too frustrated and overwhelmed to explore. Clearly there’s a lot of settings we had set up in a certain way at uni that I need to figure out!

re: the box, it turned up on my origional document but hasnt on the test one so i think i will ignore it for now lol
