Hello, I’m having some problems exporting an imported STL file from Rhino as a SketchUp file.
Every time I export the STL file as SKP, I get geometry issues as shown in the images and would like to know if there is any way I can export as SKP without these issues.
The SKP file was created by selecting Large Objects Millimetres Template then selecting Hectometers and then ticking all boxes during export.
Can you supply the STL before you imported it into Rhino?
What application created the STL?
From what I can see, it appears the STL is the problem, rather than the SKP export from Rhino.
EDIT after checking the tolerances in your Rhino file, try setting it to 0.0001 meters instead of 0.01 meters (as in your file) BEFORE you import the STL. Then try importing the STL and exporting to SKP again.
I find it somewhat hard to imagine that this object is supposed to be around 4 meters by 10 meters by 5 meters…
Note that the STL file format is unitless. You should probably select “Millimeters” when importing the STL file?
Hello, I’ve fixed the geometry issues in the SketchUp drawing by double clicking on one of the lines in the drawing which then shows all the lines which I can then smoothen.
But now when I open the same drawing in SketchUp Viewer, I get these grey side bars on each side which I find a nuisance.
