Hi everyone, first I’d like to tell you that as I write this issue I know that someone maybe has requested help on this issue before but this is my first time visiting the forum so I’m a little bit lost on how to find answers to this issue. I hope someone can help me find a solution to this.
To give you some context, I’m in the process of creating a facade with panels for a building and the time to make technical drawings it’s getting close. As it is a big project, the overall model size is 8GB and working on it has become an issue I’ve managed to solve with some tricks so far. Right now I’m in the process of finding a workflow that allows me to both work on the model and be able to create the technical drawings that I’ll need in the near future.
I tried three different ways to create the drawings: Using the native views on Rhino, using the section tools, and using Make2d with clipping planes. These are the results:
When I made these trials, the workflow that worked the best was using the section tools, but back then the project was only in the schematic stage, with projections of a basic structure:
Then we made the panels and everything changed. The vast amount of geometry (about 1400 solid panels, each with an average of 300 perforations and flaps) makes it imposible to use any of the workflow options disclosed as Rhino just stops working. On top of it, the panels that we made are an optimized version, with less details that are not fit for a production process (less perforations, no screws, etc), and there is more geometry to be shown.
If anyone has had this same issue and it has been disclosed before in this or any other forum, I would really appreciate if someone could re-direct me to it. Otherwise, I would be glad to see if someone can give me a hand with this with their own experience.
Thank you for your help, I’ll be waiting for an answer.
