Is there any update for Mac-based rendering?

I am not sure if Apple silicon changed anything but apparently the new chips are very efficient and powerful. Apple still has yet to release their pro chipset. V-Ray Rhino Mac would have been a bad idea in the past because of poor GPU options on the Mac, but things might be different now? So many architecture students would love to use Macs to render out images. I personally love Rhino Mac, but I cant use it because I also need to render.

We haven’t heard of anything here at Rhino development and support.

I’d suggest your contact the ChaosGroup V-Ray developers (if that’s the rendering engine you want to use), and see what their development plans are.

When Rhino for Mac gets fully implemented on metal (we are currently aiming for v8 on that) There are indications that rendering speed on M1 will significantly improve. We don’t have any hard data yet, but at the moment that is the hypothesis and plan. This only speaks to cycles/ rhino render, as John mentioned you’d have to talk to Chaos group to get info on plans for Vray.
