Ignore Geometry in Cycles

Hi guys

I would like to know if there is any way to ignore the geometry without doing booleans (as there is in Vray or other renders). Only with a material o parameter on the material.

Do you mean ray visibility of geometry? For instance render only when hit by camera rays, but ignore otherwise?

Yes, it would be great if I could instantiate the geometry of the diamond and ignore the metal. So the diamond refraction will always have the same result, regardless if there is metal inside of the gem.

There is currently no way for users to set that, but the engine itself is capable of that.
