Hi everyone,
I’m developing Tessera, a local desktop tool for converting IFC files into Rhino-compatible .3dm files.
The main goal is to make IFC models easier to inspect and use in Rhino without uploading project data to external servers.
Current features:
- IFC to .3dm conversion
- local processing, no upload required
- layer organization by IFC class, storey, or both
- IFC metadata preserved as Rhino UserStrings
- mesh detail settings
- split export by class / storey
- IFC structure preview before conversion
Tessera is not intended to be a full BIM authoring tool, and it does not guarantee perfect conversion of every IFC file. The result depends on the quality and structure of the source IFC data.
I’m currently looking for feedback from Rhino users who work with IFC files.

I would be happy to hear what IFC-to-Rhino workflows people are struggling with.
