How to unroll a sphere into petal shape pieces?

ike shows in this picture. Would like to ask Is there a way to use GH or rhino directly to unroll the whole sphere into pieces of these “petals”?

Hey kurnopik,

here is an approach. Its not very difficult. Sadly, there is no native component to unroll surfaces in grasshopper.
But we can access the rhinocommand via python, so you have to install python for grasshopper ( check food4rhino.com). And be aware, that these petals are double curved, this is why I lofted the sections, to get single-curvature surfaces. if you still want to work with double-curved surfaces, you can use the command “smash” to unroll it anyway ( less accurate ) .
