How to nest unrolled mesh?

Hi,

I just had fun with unrolling mesh:

unfoldpack.gh (18.3 KB)

Now I wonder how I can use OpenNest to put the individual shapes without crossing on a sheet in such a way:

Does anyone know how to do that?

Hello
I can’t believe you ask such much question without using the documentation and tools that already exists. Try Google, youtube, bing, …

Hello, I’m sorry. And I actually already watched this video. Regarding it, there must be closed polygons for the individual shapes. But I don’t understand how I can extract them from the mesh. And I think there is nothing about that in this video, and I couldn’t find any information about it.

Please read the warning
You didn’t put a sheet (a rectangle most of the time) !!!

I saw in one tutorial that it also worked without defining a sheet, and it doesn’t make a difference here.

I was thinking about baking the Unroll component, get open polysurfaces, transform them to curves, and put them in OpenNest. But I think the step of baking is maybe stupid, but I don’t have a better idea.

Try to extract outlines, that are not be overlapping.
