The script you posted was useless as you posted no internalized geometry nor sheet. And after I gave you a link you didn’t even bother updating your script. That doesn’t send good vibes
thanks for the demonstration. I was too bumbed out not being able to figure it out. I just started to learn grasshopper for this digital fabrication. But soon I realized that there’s no right answer to achieve what I want and so theres no ‘step by step’ method.
I’ve tried to follow your method, and noticed that just changing any value there’s a huge delay, easily over 5 minutes. So I’ve tried simpler mesh like cone, it was way faster. And I don’t know if this made the difference.
If you struggle somewhere it is important you post a file with relevant geometry. If you don’t want to post your design you can replace it with an equivalent mesh. For this type of problem devil is on details.
As your have an hollow shape it is important each shape (exterior and hole) are on the same branch…
Oh I completely forgot this time waiting for it to finish its task but had to force end it since it was going forever. I just edited and uploaded on the previous reply!
To keep the hollow shapes contour on the same branch, do i need to try using pathfinder ?
I think main problem was that Contour that put all the contours in a same branch. So I used here a little tool from my Nautilus plugin to group curves by region.
Thank you, trully appreciate it!
I’ve been modifying some values, and came upon a tutorial from OpenNest to simplify complicated shapes. I see there’s a way to reference each contours in convex hull to lay them out in a sheet, then use transform node to link actual contours to those convex hulls in the sheet. But I can’t find the transform output in Nest node for the latest version. Do you know if I can achieve this ?
If you use convex hull you will lost some packing inside holes and on concavity.
But as you extract control point it generate new branches you need to trim the tree to have the good data structure, also I had to put all curves on XY plane.
Here just 17 s for 6 unit slicing !!! I change tolerance to 10. Tolerance has a great effect on time of calculation here (because of use of Clipper).
Only selected objects appears. @Petras_Vestartas choose to hidde “attibutes” so they are not visible but they are here. The component just show “all_geo” and “sheets”
Attribute is a way to link objects that are nested(polyline) to others type of objects (brep, surface, annotation …)
I’m almost there!
I need to label each shapes but the method I’ve tried makes groups of same numbers. from 0 - 15. But when I look at Paramview of the ‘sheet id’ of the nest node, it says 283 branches. would you know how i can fix this? GH_3.gh (26.6 KB) QuadRemesh.3dm (6.4 MB)
