How to close SubD Object

subd_ek.3dm (11.1 MB)

I am working on this part and have a problem merging the SubD parts. Additionally, when I try to export this part and slice it for 3D printing, the scre

w holes disappear. Could you help me?

Hi @Efe_Kaan_Derin ,

Shared SubD edges will need the same topology to Join into one SubD. This means the vertices of the shared edge must be in the same spot and of the same number. In your model, you have several SubD parts that don’t match exactly and you won’t be able to easily join them. It looks like you used QuadRemesh to create the SubDs. If you have the initial model, which I’ll guess was surfaces, I’d return to that and get everything joined properly prior to QuadRemesh to create the SubD.

Regarding the loss of the screw holes, I would suggest not including these in the surface or resulting SubD model at first. Make sure you don’t have overlapping geometry in the area where these holes will be as well, currently this is the case. Instead, after you have a clean SubD model joined as you like, use the ToNURBS command on it to make it a PolySurface. Then trim the holes with precisely drawn curves. You will also likely need to model in a wall thickness if your plan is to 3D print the model.

I hope that helps.
