twist infinite> use lower and upper midpoint of the surface as start and end, then twist a multitude of 360 degrees and offset the resulting surface in both directions
another method, make a helix, pipe it with round caps, intersect with cylinder, trim or split or however you want, then offset.

That’s a nicer method I think to get a cleaner edge curve.
To get the spring from the picture you’ll need two of those with 180 degree difference in starting point.
