How is this type of volumetric text modeled?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to recreate the shape of the letters shown in the attached image. I’m interested in the modeling technique used to create this smooth, rounded volumetric surface, not just a simple edge fillet (not Fillet).

One approach that came to mind is using ZBrush creating a height map with a white center and a smooth blurred falloff toward the edges, then using it as a displacement map.

However, I’d like to know if it’s possible to achieve a similar result directly in Rhino or Grasshopper.

What modeling approach is typically used to create this kind of geometry? I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Hello

main tool is surely the new inflatecrv in Rhino 9

Thank you! InflateCrv looks like exactly the kind of tool I was looking for.

Unfortunately, I’m still using Rhino 7, so I don’t have access to it. Do you think it’s possible to achieve a similar result in Rhino 7 without using plugins (such as Dendro/OpenVDB), using only native Rhino or Grasshopper tools?
