How do I apply this pattern to a surface?

Hello!
How can I apply this varying hexagonal pattern to this surface? (Last image where the diamonds get bigger towards the center and smaller towards the end. Also, the crossing lines sort of curve. In my try I was only able to get uniform diamonds and the lines are straight.

Could you select the lines and project them onto the surface?

Alternatively offset the lines inwards or outwards, loft the pair, the offset surface to give thickness?
