I’m very disappointed with hops as it never managed to run (Mac) form me and crashes the Rhino or generators invalid path error(1. Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: <. Path ‘’, line 0, position 0.). It doesn’t load the HelloWorld inputs and outputs but the component is not mark with error sometimes as well.
Our server deployment is on AWS T2 micro which runes only sometimes from windows clients (not deterministic imo) but never from Mac ones. Windows side works only on R7.
Here is the last IO response I got: resp.json (9.4 KB) resp.json (9.4 KB)
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with Hops and/or Rhino.Compute. It seems like it’s not working consistently on either Windows or macOS. Is that correct? I’m assuming that you followed this guide to setup your AWS T2 micro instance with Rhino.Compute. Is that correct? Did you install any 3rd party plugins or modify the instance in any way other than to simply run the bootstrap script? Does Rhino run on your VM when you click on the icon on the desktop? Or do you get a license error? When you say it runs sometimes on Windows, have you been able to determine what definition does work for you and one that does not? Could you send me an example of a Hops definition that does not work on your VM? I’d like to help you get things up and running on both platforms if possible. Thanks.
Actually I got no error at all just missing outputs and inputs and after a lot of investigations and “internal sever error” message it turned out that the Indian support did not restart the server after putting the license file which did not allow for compute to load properly.
Now we have it running and is all fine but the messages we got did not help in the beginning to understand its a license issue for some reason.
